No I.D. produced every track on JAY-Z‘s new album 4:44, and he bodied every beat on the 10-track album. If there’s one thing that sticks out about No I.D.’s style is how he chops samples, and there’s plenty of source material to sort though on Hov’s new LP.

The intro “Kill Jay Z” samples elements of The Alan Parsons Project’s “Don’t Let It Show,” while “The Story of O.J.” blows the hinges off the doors with a crazy sample of Nina Simone’s 1966 song “Four Women” and Kool & The Gang’s “Kool’s Back Again.” “Smile” has a crazy Stevie Wonder vocal sample (“Love’s in Need of Love Today”), while Nina Simone (“Baltimore”) gets chopped up again on “Caught Their Eyes.”

The title track lifts Hannah Williams and the Affirmations’ “Late Nights and Heart Breaks,” while “Family Feud” embodies portions of the Clark Sisters’ “Ha Ya.” Sister Nancy’s timeless “Bam” gets flipped on “Bam,” which also contains elements of Jacob Miller’s “Tenement Yard.”

The “Fu-Gee-La” sample on “Moonlight” is perfect, and No I.D. went digging in the crates for some rock from Portugal for Quarteto 1111’s “Todo O Mundo E Ninguém,” sampled on “Marcy Me.” Finally, the last song “Legacy” beautifully lifts from Donny Hathaway’s “Someday We’ll All Be Free” and embodies some portions of Raekwon’s Cuban Linx classic “Glaciers of Ice” featuring Ghostface and Masta Killa.
